boundary discussion

As part of ongoing planning and transportation review, the Harrisburg School District will hold a discussion during the June 23rd School Board meeting regarding several small, remaining exceptions from previous elementary boundary changes. Over time, the number of families in these situations has become increasingly limited, and the district is now reviewing options to align school assignments with current boundaries, address transportation efficiency, and begin planning for a future phase-out of these exceptions.

The areas under review include:

  • Tiger Meadows – a new development just west of the new Liberty Elementary is currently within the Freedom Elementary boundary. As this is a new development, an adjustment to include Tiger Meadows in the Liberty Elementary boundary will be discussed.

  • Rambler Place – located in the Endeavor Elementary boundary. An exception was made for current students to continue at Explorer as of the last boundary changes. A discussion will be held on a phase-out timeline for transportation and this exception.

  • Diamond Valley – located in the Journey Elementary boundary. An exception was made for current students to continue at Horizon as of the last boundary change. A discussion will be held on a phase-out timeline for transportation and this exception.

  • Twin Creeks – located in the Horizon Elementary and East Middle School boundaries. An exception was made for current students to continue at Liberty and South Middle School as of the last boundary change. A discussion will be held on a phase-out timeline for transportation and this exception.

These topics will be discussed at the Harrisburg School Board meeting on June 23rd. No decisions will be made until a later date, and your feedback is welcome. For questions ahead of the meeting, please contact the Harrisburg School District Office at (605) 743-2567.
